

Late Night Music Trail Announced as part of Culture Date with Dublin 8 Festival
Culture Date with Dublin 8 the annual cultural extravaganza, celebrating the history, heritage, and community life of Dublin 8, has just announced a series of after-dark events set to take place in venues across the Dublin 8 district.
Over the course of the festival, from 4th to 10th May, churches, distilleries, and pubs will play host to music events with the support of Dublin City Council’s Night Time Economy Advisor, Ray O’Donoghue.
BIMM Music Showcase & Late in D8
Damien Dempsey will perform at The National Stadium on Saturday, 9th May, with an event celebrating Dublin’s boxing legends. Tom Dunne, Fiachna O'Braonáin and Alan Connor will perform in the Church of St. Catherine & St. James on Wednesday 6th May followed by singer Phelim Drew with his “Remembering Ronnie” show on Thursday 7th May and Kerry pop-folk band Simple Things on Friday 8th May.

On Friday, 8th May, singer and actress Camille O’Sullivan will perform at Christ Church Cathedral. The programme also includes immersive and cross-disciplinary events, from Arts Bubble’s exploratory Gulliver 300 experience to Reeling in the Years: 1926 at The Fumbally Stables, alongside film screenings, live podcasts, comedy and cultural events at venues across the district.
Creative Futures Showcase with BIMM Institute
The Late in D8 after dark series will see a showcase of BIMM College graduates alongside late night parties taking place in venues across the district with the majority of the events are free to attend. Speaking ahead of the festivities, The Night-Time Economy Advisor for Dublin City Council, Ray O’Donoghue, remarked:
“We’re delighted to support this year’s Late in D8 music trail. The programme brings together DJs, live bands and musicians performing across pubs and cultural spaces throughout the district. It not only reflects the area’s rich heritage, but also highlights its contemporary cultural scene by supporting local nightlife and showcasing the depth of talent across Dublin 8.”
Among the line-up, on Friday, 8th May, Teeling Whiskey Distillery will play host to five-piece folk rock band Cicada, who were named Hot Press “Hot For ’26.” They will be joined by alt rock quartet King Cara and Irish indie alt-rockers RuntheRed, recently named RTE 2FM Rising Act. Doors will open at 7:30 pm.
The Nancy Hands venue will feature Irish folk band The Lags’ led by singer Caroline Farrell, alongside folk singer-songwriter Just Eoghan and Italian covers singer and guitarist Beatrice. Music will kick off at 10:30pm. The Liberty Belle will host music from 5 to 7 pm, including four-piece Irish trad band Bó Dhearg.
On Saturday, 9th May, The Fourth Corner will feature music from 9 pm until late, including DJ and live saxophonist Nouméa, Dublin-based DJ and producer Ali PJ, and Marzy. At Thomas House, proceedings will kick off at 8 pm with Irish-German grunge band Gag Reflex, alternative rockers Wetpaint, and eclectic rock band Nobodies.
The Aloft Hotel will host music from 6 to 8 pm, including rock-jazz fusion band VIXI, folk-jazz duo Bring Back June and rising star, Calum Agnew. The Patriots Inn Kilmainham will host folk pop singer-songwriter Becca Colley from 8pm.

Elsewhere on the Late in D8 programme Sofar Sounds, known for curating gigs in unusual spaces, will be presenting a night of music in Teeling Whiskey, followed by a tour and whiskey tasting in the distillery.
ThinkPunk Inchicore host Pure Sine Wave, which will feature music from Ges, Jam Hades, Openjam, and Fizzywaters, from 4pm until late.
Small Changes will host trad music featuring Ceol Gan Eagla from 8pm, while Hensteeth will host an Italo Disco Party with Spraoi Mor on the decks.
Raidió RíRa host a very special night as gaelige at Marrowbone books featuring music with Amano, Bríán Mac Gloinn of Ye Vagabonds and Ian Mac Gabhann.
Lucky’s on Meath street will host an array of events during festival week including Live Jazz music, markets and bring your own record listening party.
