Culture Date with Dublin 8 took place for its third year on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May.
This year saw the expansion of the programme with the inclusion of our new programming partners: Christchurch Cathedral, St Patrick’s Cathedral, Marsh’s Library and The Edward Worth Library.
Highlights of Culture Date with Dublin 8’s May line-up included
- Free guided tours at Kilmainham Gaol and an exhibition presenting new, and never previously exhibited, civil war artefacts.
- A LEGO® Minifigures treasure hunt of historical writers at Marsh’s Library
- Speciality guided tours of Christchurch Cathedral including their underground crypt
- Speciality guided rooftop tours of St Patrick’s Cathedral
- Speciality tours in Richmond Barracks and a workshop in local Biodiversity
- A Photographic Walking Tour - From the Digital Hub to Thomas Court hosted by the Liberties Cultural Association
- A family fun day with children’s entertainment, historical re-enactments, puppetry, circus skills, poetry and more at the Irish National War Memorial Gardens
- An outdoor concert at the temple in Goldenbridge Cemetery
- Walking tours on the history of the Grand Canal and Goldenbridge by Pat Liddy
- Exclusive guided tours of IMMA’s exhibitions, free entry to their landmark exhibitions all weekend, family workshops, activity packs and self-guided garden trails
