Kilmainham Inchicore Heritage Group: Surrounded by Water – From the Grand Canal to the Camac
Kilmainham Inchicore Heritage Group
Until the 20th century, the availability of water – for drinking, power supply, transport – was the most significant element in how an area was settled and developed. This guided walk in Goldenbridge and Kilmainham will highlight the significance of waterways and transport routes for the settlement and development of the area over the last 1,000 years.
Moving from the Grand Canal to the site of medieval Kilmainham Town, the River Camac and ending at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Francis Thackaberry of Kilmainham Inchicore Heritage Group will guide you through aspects of the rich history and visible heritage along the route.
