‘Why Flanagan’s Fields?’ Local History Lecture with Cathy Scuffil in The Edward Worth Library
The Edward Worth Library Lecture Series 2026
Dr Cathy Scuffil's lecture 'Why Flanagan's Fields?' explores the life and times of Michael Flanagan, Alderman, Dublin City Councillor, Justice of the Peace, local employer and major landowner/market gardener in south west Dublin in the late 19th and 20th centuries.
The land he farmed is now housing and other developments in this part of Dublin, but he is remembered in many ways, including through a community market-garden in Dolphin's Barn.
This is the local history lecture in the Worth Library 2026 series and is designed to celebrate the Culture Date with Dublin 8 festival.
