Our Liberties: Our Parks Our People, Our Past - Family Explorer Tour
Hosted by Walking Food Tours
Step into a world of giants, tiny details and tall tales on this family-friendly walking tour of The Liberties, inspired by 300 years of Gulliver’s Travels. Led by local guide Tracey Sands, who was born and raised in the area, this playful journey through Dublin 8 invites you to see the neighbourhood through a Gulliver-like lens — where scale, perspective and story shift at every turn.
Wander through Bridgefoot Street, Weaver Park, St Patrick’s Park and along Cork Street, uncovering layers of history connected to Jonathan Swift and the world that shaped his writing. Along the way, discover local legends, hidden histories and the spirit of a place that has long stood apart — much like the strange and independent lands Gulliver encountered on his travels.
Designed for all ages, this “two-scale” tour offers something for everyone: rich historical insights and storytelling for adults, alongside plenty of play stops for younger explorers, including visits to three playgrounds and a dedicated junior tour guide to bring the adventure to life.
A joyful and imaginative way to explore The Liberties, where history, play and storytelling meet — and where every step offers a new perspective.
