Celebrating William 'Billy' Mooney - A Photographic Exhibition
Dubliner and Tenters' resident William ‘Billy’ Mooney is a familiar face and integral part of the local Dublin 8 landscape since he came to live in The Tenters some 72 years ago. In 1953 he married his fiancée Rita Doherty in the Church of St Thérèse in Donore Avenue and the couple settled in the area, raising a family of three.
Before retiring, Billy worked as a photographer for Dublin Corporation for forty years and attended numerous events throughout the years ready to capture yet another photograph to add to his enormous collection of images. Today, 12,000 photographs taken by Billy form part of the Dublin City Library and Archive sources. Images cover everything from official Dublin City events such as the visit of Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa in Dublin to photographs of places and people long gone.
This exhibition will showcase a selection of his work that celebrates people, place and highlights of his career.
