The Great Liberties Whiskey Fire (150 years on)

with Las Fallon

The night the Liberties burned. Remembering and examining the 1875 fire and the stories surrounding it.

Speaker: Las Fallon

Retired firefighter from the Dublin Fire Brigade, Las is a historian and author with a focus on fire service history. He has penned four books covering various facets of Dublin Fire Brigade's legacy and has contributed to radio and TV documentaries for networks such as RTE, TG4, and various independent producers. Additionally, he has written extensively for publications including An Cosantoir (the magazine of the Irish Defence Forces), Firecall, the Irish Examiner, the Journal.ie, and many others.

The talk will be hosted in the Teeling Whiskey Distillery, located on Newmarket Square, where the fire began all those years ago in the heart of the Liberties. Celebrating a Decade of Dublin Distilling, Teeling was the first new distillery in over 125 years when they opened their doors in 2015. As a distillery that represents both rebirth (their logo being a phoenix rising from the ashes) & reconnecting to the past, it is the perfect backdrop for this exciting event. Following the talk with Las, there will be a tour of the distillery as well as a tasting of Teeling Small Batch whiskey, all included in your ticket.
