Open Day at the Edward Worth Library: tours of the Worth Library and our latest exhibition
The Edward Worth Library, Dublin
This tour will introduce you to the wonderful collections of Dr Edward Worth (1676-1733), a Dublin physician and connoisseur collector of rare printings and fine bindings, some of which will be on display.
The Edward Worth Library is famous for many things, one of which is his magnificent collection of bindings. This tour will introduce you to the Dublin physician, whose beautiful library is preserved in Dr Steevens' Hospital, Dublin 8.
During Culture Date with Dublin 8 we will have some of our most beautiful and intriguing seventeenth and early eighteenth-century bindings on display - if you have ever wondered why there is a mermaid in the coat of arms of the family of Loménie de Brienne - now is your chance to find out!
