Dublin Decoded Hidden Portobello Tour
Dublin Decoded Tours
Explore the redbrick streets where some of Portobello's famous former residents lived, including artists, writers and actors. We'll explore Portobello's rich history too, as "Little Jerusalem", the home to Dublin's first significant Irish-Jewish community, as well as the district's remarkable links to film, political, revolutionary and musical history.
Following our winding route through the old red-brick, artisan terraces of Portobello, we will discover the sites of a former old harbour, a vanished reservoir and vanished ornamental lake, and even the forgotten Portobello Pleasure Gardens, once graced by acrobats and tightrope walkers, as well as a 19th century zoo!
We will also discuss some of Portobello's famous residents, including renowned artists, writers and actors, as well as the district's remarkable links to stage, screen and musical history. We will also explore Portobello rich, layered history as "Little Jerusalem", the home of Dublin's first Irish-Jewish community.
