OTT Wrestling Poetry Slam

"In wrestling, as in poetry, the body speaks what words cannot."

Putting the SLAM into PoetrySlam, a very special one off event to wrap up Culture Date in Dublin 8 as we bring together some of Ireland’s most verbally dexterous poets and pair them with the country’s finest wrestlers in a battle Royal !

Which tag team will win the Dan Donnelly’s Arm Memorial Trophy !

Amongst the wrestlers are OTT womens’ Champion Myla Grace, Renzo Rose and The Weirdos, Poets will include Dyrt Davis, Ciara Nic E , Roxanna Nic Liam, Ahmed with Love, (and more)

The Sunday afternoon event will be a tag-team pairing of wrestlers and slam poets inside the ring. Leaning into spectacle and performance where the ring as stage and the mic is a weapon, draws a line between 18th-century prizefighting bravado and modern spoken-word persona.

It’s very visual, slightly irreverent, and likely to be a strong photo moment, while still sitting clearly within the Donnelly thread.

A replica of Dan Donnelly’s arm will be the prize for the winning team!
