The Liberties named by Time Out as one of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods

Big news for Dublin 8! The Liberties has been named by Time Out magazine as one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world for 2025! Why are we not surprised?

From its medieval roots to its dynamic and vibrant local life, The Liberties continues to shine as one of Dublin’s most vibrant quarters. With independent cafés, creative studios, historic pubs and a thriving local scene, it’s no wonder Time Out put this neighbourhood firmly on the global map.

Big shout out to the locals and legends who make The Liberties what it is from the team behind the Liberties Festival, to spots like Two Pups Coffee, Variety Jones, Cleo Prickett Studio, Bold Boy Bakery, Bakeology, Change Clothes, and the brand-new CitizenM Hotel.

Here’s what Time Out had to say:

“It may be one of Dublin’s oldest neighbourhoods, but alongside medieval remnants and terraced houses, the Liberties is home to some of the hottest spots in town – from Argentinian bakeries (hello, Bakeology) to classic pubs... The Liberties Festival went from strength to strength... Change Clothes, Bold Boy Bakery and Cleo Prickett Studio are some of the cool new additions... and the punkiest Michelin-star spot in Ireland, Variety Jones, has just reopened in a brand-new space. What more could you want?”

The perfect day:
Wake up in the stylish new CitizenM, stroll through St Patrick’s Park and Marsh’s Library, grab coffee and a hot honey pastry from Two Pups, and wander up Francis Street for antiques, guitars, and vintage finds. For dinner, book a table at Variety Jones or grab a slice at Coke Lane Pizza in Lucky’s.

Plan your trip:
Time your visit for The Liberties Festival in July, or catch the Dublin Flea Market, usually held on the last weekend of the month.
