Inchicore for All & Kilmainham Inchicore Heritage Group Present: The Story of Inchicore and Kilmainham in Seven Landmarks

Inchicore for All/Kilmainham Inchicore Heritage Group

Local Historian Francis Thackaberry will look at seven surviving structures that we see around us (a gateway, a bridge, a canal, a jail, a chapel, a military barracks and an engineering complex) to build a picture of our area’s rich history. He will also look at how newcomers to the area over the centuries have contributed to its prosperity and to its national significance.

This talk will be a 'beginners' guide' to the history of Inchicore-Kilmainham and will be of interest to adults and young people new to the area who would like an introduction to its heritage.

Inchicore for All was set up by a group of local residents at the end of 2023. It is a community group working to foster integration and strengthen the community to keep the area a safe and welcoming place for all.

Kilmainham Inchicore Heritage Group was founded in 2004 to raise awareness and appreciation of the rich history and heritage of the Kilmainham, Inchicore, Islandbridge and Goldenbridge areas.
