The National Archives of Ireland Presents: Ask the Archives - 1926 Census Clinics

The National Archives of Ireland

The release of the 1926 Census on 18 April 2026 marks a landmark moment in Irish history bringing the earliest demographic record of the Irish Free State into public hands for the first time.

Free to access and fully searchable through the National Archives of Ireland's new online platform, the census offers over 700,000 digitised household returns, rich with detail on language, occupations, family life, and more.

These free online clinics offer you the chance to explore the census with expert guidance from National Archives staff. Each session runs for approximately one hour and features a short presentation on how to search and navigate the census, followed by an open Q&A where our staff are on hand to answer your questions and help you get the most from this extraordinary resource.

Whether you're new to the census or a seasoned searcher with questions for our staff, these clinics are open to all.
