Dublin 8’s forgotten pubs, breweries and stories, hosted by Donal Fallon
With Mac Dara Yeates , Stephen James Smith, Helena Byrne , Padraig O’Lionsaigh
From the Great Liberties Whiskey Fire of 1875 to the treacherous barrels of Manders & Powel Brewery which were used to hang Robert Emmet amid price fixing cartels, Jonathon Swift’s diatribes on the dangers of English Porter and Daniel O’Connells Sons Ale Brewery which out half a million litres a day at the end of the 19th century, the history of Dublin 8 is entangled with the business of brewing and at this very special evening in St. Patricks Cathedral this will be celebrated in song, story and verse.
