An exhibition by NCAD Studio + student, Rosemary Costello, in collaboration The Liberties Weavers, Dublin 8. A collaborative woven sculptural artwork which explores who we see ourselves as; women; weavers; feminists; caregivers; artists; daughters, and mothers. Individual woven pieces threaded together into one sculptural form, each contribution carries the signature of each woman's skill, imagination and frame of mind - a piece of herself that she is generously sharing. This generosity is honored within the work. Each handmade item silently expresses its creator’s vulnerabilities.
The National College of Art and Design Dublin 8 Neighbourhood Residency programme offers students an in-depth learning experience of the richness of community-based collaborative art practice. Art-making that engages with and responds to people and place, is a significant and growing strand of contemporary art practice. This residency offers a means of developing skills, experiences, resources and networks, in addition to informing students about the importance of socially engaged art work.
