Singer songwriter Pete Cummins has been playing music since 1964 when he formed his first beat group The Circle with school friends. He joined Granny Intentions in 1968 releasing one album Honest Injun in 1970 on Deram. He has played with Donovan, Nanci Griffith, Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, The Chieftains, Terry Woods etc, and formed The Fake with Freddie White in the 70’s.

In 1985 together with Johnny Moynihan and Frankie Lane, they formed the legendary Fleadh Cowboys who were phenomenally successful during the eighties and nineties, and recorded two albums, “High Ace to Heaven” which was a No1 album in Ireland, and Time of your Life. They toured with The Pogues and supported U2, Bob Dylan and Emmylou Harris. Pete released three solo albums The Brilliant Architect in 2008 and Crooked Highway 2014 which was RTE album of the week.. His last release was “Looking for the Magic” a compilation double albums of his recordings.

He will be playing with Ger Kiely in Arthurs on 12 th May. Ger is one of Ireland’s greatest guitar players. A composer and Producer, he has written and recorded a number of film soundtracks and has recorded with Pete since 1996’s Time of your Life by Fleadh Cowboys, which Ger co-produced.

Culture Date With Dublin 8 Festival in association with The Goo magazine presents Late Date In D8, a program of live music and dancing in some of Dublin 8’s best venues. Arthurs Blues & Jazz Bar has a full program of live music events from Festival kick off on Wednesday May 8th to close on Sunday May 12th, while the famous Rock n Roll bar, The Thomas House, hosts two nights of free gigs featuring bands from Dublin 8’s landmark BIMM Music College. The Digital Hub hosts a special edition of the wonderful We Love Markets Monthly Craft & Artisan Market on Sunday May 12th, a venue which will host a live performance from the truly brilliant Dublin based Hip Hop/Spoken Word collective Shakalak. The newly opened Love Tempo bar (co-owned by two of Dublin’s best known club promoters Mother & Hidden Agenda) have a full program of DJ curated events for your dancing pleasure with all events free admission.
