EXPANDED PROGRAMME ACROSS THE YEAR
We are delighted to be returning for a second year to host a festival style weekend of events, guided walks, family friendly activities and more across Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May as well as an expanded programme of pop-up events taking place across the year in 2018. These pop up events will include tailor-made family tours of Kilmainham Gaol; film screenings, free exhibitions entries, a specially designed Culture Date with Dublin 8 route for Culture Night Friday, 21st September and more.

Other programming highlights of the weekend in May include bespoke guided tours of Kilmainham Gaol, including a literary tour featuring women writers, and a family tour aimed at children between the ages of six and 12; Walking tours on the history of the Grand Canal by Pat Liddy; Exclusive guided tours of IMMA's exhibitions, free entry to their landmark exhibitions, family workshops, activity packs and self-guided garden trails; a Genealogy workshop, musical and dramatic tours of Richmond Barracks; and Guided tours of the Magazine Fort in the Phoenix Park.
Culture Date with Dublin 8 will also be participating in National Drawing Day on Saturday 19th May where all venues will be encouraging you to get creative and explore the theme 'Inspirational Settings in D8' throughout the course of your visit.
All events will be taking place across the leading cultural institutions and sites in the Kilmainham and Inchicore district including The Phoenix Park, The Irish National War Memorial Gardens, IMMA - Irish Museum of Modern Art, Kilmainham Gaol, Richmond Barracks and Goldenbridge Cemetery.

Culture Date with Dublin 8 is a unique opportunity for those living in, working in and visiting Dublin 8 to explore and celebrate the deep historical, architectural and cultural heritage of the area. As well as the programme of events over the weekend in May, we’ve teamed up with local businesses and organisations, so that their employees can experience the culture in the neighbourhood they work in.
This initiative connects with and amplifies the wider efforts being made to regenerate the area - Kilmainham and Inchicore have so much to offer local and visitors alike, and expanding Culture Date with Dublin 8 will help us to put the area on the map as a unique, sought-after, cultural destination and a great place to live.
We hope to see you there!
