Remembering Eugene Lynch
We would like to take this opportunity to remember Eugene Lynch. Eugene Lynch was an 8 year old boy who was shot during the Easter Rising in 1916 and was laid to rest in Goldenbridge Cemetery. Today marks the day where his life is honoured and remembered with the unveiling of a headstone to mark this young boy's life and tragic death, and also to remember the other 40 children who died in the Rising.
A commemorative event and unveiling of the headstone took place in Goldenbridge Cemetery this morning with tributes from Joe Duffy, Local School Children and Declan O'Rouke.
Goldenbridge Cemetery re-opened for the first time in over 100 years during Culture Date with Dublin 8 in 2017.
We encourage you to read the beautiful poem by 6th class students from Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál.
We will be back with more news next week. Have a great weekend everyone.
