LEGO Hunt - featuring significant Irish figures from the library's past

Marsh's Library is happy to welcome visitors to participate in its Irish Writers themed Lego Hunt! Track down James Joyce, Bram Stoker and many more as you browse through the bays of Ireland's first public library. Staff will be available to tell you stories of the famous readers, book theft and Maurice the Mummy. All ages are welcome!

Children's History Workshop: What was there before Inchicore?

Do you have a favourite part of Inchicore? Do you know any stories about its history?
Join Dublin’s Historian-in-Residence for Children Dervilia Roche for this free, interactive workshop for children aged 9 - 12 at Richmond Barracks.
Step back in time as we trace the history of Inchicore and surrounding areas, and help us learn more about the area by telling us about your favourite Inchicore places, buildings or stories. Where would you take someone if you wanted to show them the best bits of Inchicore or its history?
Children should be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Teddy Bear Picnic in the Garden

Join us for a picnic in Richmond Barracks on Saturday the 13th of May from 12:30-3 pm. Bring your sambos and your picnic blanket and chill out in the beautiful surroundings of the Richmond Barracks garden.
We'll be starting at 12.30 pm with a Teddy Bear's Picnic with Inchicore Library (make sure to bring your teddy!) Then afterwards we will be relaxing, playing some games, having some music and serving tea, orange squash and buns. We look forward to seeing you! (please note the picnic is weather dependent and won't take place if it is raining)

Make A Flipbook Animation workshop
Saturday 13th May, 11am

Join animator Joseph Orr to learn to create a flipbook animation. Flipbooks are ideal for young people interested in drawing and animation. Using 'my neighbourhood' as a theme to inspire your ideas, you will learn how to use the basic principles of hand drawn animation to make your own creations come to life.
The workshop is a mixture of live demonstrations, easy to follow drawing guides and practical hands-on creativity. All materials are provided and you get to take your flipbook home with you.
This workshop is suitable for 8-13 year olds.

IMMA - IRISH MUSEUM OF MODERN ART

Explorer Family Workshop: Create your own Artwork

Enjoy some creative family time with our Explorer family art workshop. Children and grown-ups will explore selected artworks in the museum and make artworks together. Led by our Visitor Engagement Team, this is a fun family experience. All materials provided.

Explore the Green Cube: Biodiversity Tour of IMMA's Gardens

Join a tour of the magnificent formal gardens and meadows, exploring the flora and fauna of IMMA and the Royal Hospital Kilmainham. This tour is led by Sandra Murphy, a member of IMMA’s Visitor Engagement Team and an amateur wildlife photographer and Birder. This easy one-hour walking tour will explore the site observing the birds, plants, and pollinating insects. You can read Sandra’s articles in the IMMA magazine on the biodiversity of birds, butterflies and wild flowers found on IMMA’s 48 acre site.

A guided tour of Kilmainham Gaol for our younger visitors. This is a great opportunity to explore the architecture of the prison, hear stories of crimes committed by children and learn about some the gaol’s most famous prisoners. Suitable for children aged 8-12yrs. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Come and join this special interactive family tour. Try on a Viking costume, and even get a chance to hold a Viking sword or Shield! Visit the Medieval Fair, and learn all about cures for diseases long ago. Take a stroll down an medieval street, pop into the medieval house and take a seat by the fire! Finish off your tour with a special audio visual show and take a flying visit from your seat over the medieval city all while listening to the story of a medieval merchants life.
